ITINERARY

Based on Travel in November 2012

Day 1 Nov 3rd - San Jose
Included Group Transfer from Inter. Airport to San Jose Hotel
Arrive at the San Jose International Airport. A representative will be waiting for you at the airport exit. Please exit to your right.  Board the van for the 30-minute transfer to San Jose and check in to your hotel. Free night to explore the city’s dining and entertainment options.

Day 2 Nov 4th - Puerto Viejo
TRANSFER San Jose to Puerto Viejo Limon
TOUR Sloth Sanctuary
This highly recommended tour offers a delightful introduction to the wonderful world of the sloth. It includes a one-hour, guided, canoe ride through the bayous of the Estrella River Delta where, if you watch carefully, you may see wild sloths as well as other inhabitants of the rainforest. Next stop is the Learning Center where you will view a short video about the sloth and meet some of our resident adult sloths. We’ve saved the best for last...baby sloths!  We will introduce you to these tiny orphans and tell you their stories. Of course, Buttercup, the Grande Dame of the Sanctuary, is waiting patiently and slowthfully for her turn to meet you, as well.

Day 3 Nov 5th - Puerto Viejo
TOUR Jaguar Sanctuary
The Jaguar Animal Rescue Center in Playa Chiquita is a center to rehabilitate mistreated, injured and/or confiscated animals, which are then reintroduced to their natural habitat in protected areas. During your visit you will have direct contact with monkeys, wild cats, sloths, racoons, anteaters, marsupials, reptiles, amphibians, etc. You can also observe all the venomous snakes of Costa Rica which are housed in terrariums imitating their natural habitat.

Day 4 Nov 6th - Tortuguero
Private TRANSFER Puerto Viejo to Tortuguero
Enjoy your private ground transfer as you explore the scenery of Costa Rica in a private air conditioned microbus with your English speaking driver. Drive time is approx 1 hour and 30 minutes to your next point.

Arrive at the Turtle Beach Lodge. A local guide will explain the activities that are included in your package and any optional activities that are available at the Lodge. Join the guided Canal Tour and experience the jungle surrounding the canals. Learn about the jungle flora and fauna as well as the animals that live in the tropical rain forest. In the afternoon you will have a free time... Schedule a canopy, garden, kayak or cerro tour, go fishing or just nap in a hammock on the beach or by the pool! The choice is yours.

Day 5 Nov 7th - Tortuguero

Day 6 Nov 8th - La Fortuna
Transfer from Tortuguero to Guapiles
Turtle Beach Lodge will be in charge of your transportation from the lodge to Guapiles Restaurant Selva Tropical where you will eat lunch. Your private transfer will be waiting for you to bring you to La Fortuna.

Private Transfer from Guapiles to La Fortuna

Take your private transfer to the Arenal area. Your english speaking driver will be waiting for you at Selva Tropical Restaurant. Enjoy your private ground transfer as you explore the scenery of Costa Rica in an air conditioned microbus.The flawless silhouette of Arenal Volcano, its loud rumblings and frequent explosions of lava and ash are a sight not to be missed by any visitor to Costa Rica. Afternoon arrival to your Hotel in La fortuna, your home-base for that night. Drive time is approx 3  hours.

Day 7 Nov 9th - La Fortuna
TOUR Asis Volunteer project
Proyecto Asis is officially recognized by and work in close coordination with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy(MINAE) and the Monteverde Conservation League, a non-profit organization that administers the world-renowned Children´s Eternal Rainforest, a private reserve of 54,000 acres.  Proyecto Asis has a variety of different volunteer programs, all of which, focus on environmental conservation and wildlife preservation. Included today is your day trip to the project. Approximately 3.5 hrs this tour allows you a unique opportunity to not only be near the wild animals, but also help in their rehabilitation.

Day 8 Nov 10th - San Jose
TRANSFER Arenal to SJO airport
Enjoy your private ground transfer as you explore the scenery of Costa Rica in a private air conditioned microbus with driver. Drive time is approx 3 hours.
