About Our Partnership

With partnership by AORE and G Adventures, the AORE and G Adventures Global University is intently aimed at the academic and experiential format of global outdoor learning to foster a community of experts within collegiate outdoor recreation and education. Through working within the outdoor education community, AORE and G Adventures seek to support the appreciation of our natural environment, raise the bar of practice and performance in the global programming development and enhance the profession of outdoor education and recreation through facilitated discussions on best practices, networking with industry leaders and industry experts in order to impart knowledge and inspire others while on a truly unique global adventure.

Intended Gains and Our Mission:

AORE and G Adventures intend to build upon our 2016 successes and further expand the programming to cultivate a collaborative working environment for AORE professionals and their direct supervisors.  In addition to the original program outcomes, the 2018 emphasis will further develop networking, program evaluation and assessment, and organizational development opportunities between collegiate outdoor educators and their direct supervisors.

The Opportunity:

This program will be limited to eight (8) teams of outdoor educators and direct supervisors will have the opportunity to represent their institution and interface and collaborate with other university teams to examine and compare programs and to explore trends impacting higher education, collegiate recreation and the outdoor industry.  These outcomes include:

  • AORE members will have dedicated and field based time with their direct supervisor.
  • AORE members will have the opportunity to engage their direct supervisor in a program evaluation and SWOT analysis.
  • AORE members will have the opportunity to engage their direct supervisor in exploring current trends in higher education, collegiate recreation and the outdoor industry, and look at the impact these trends are having on their institutions strategic planning and visioning.
  • AORE members will have opportunities to showcase current and discuss perspective opportunities for global programming at their institution
  • Participants will have the opportunity to collectively process a SWOT analysis of the current and future state of collegiate outdoor recreation and education.
